USM Tissue Bank involves with undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes and collaborates in research activities organized by other disciplines and institutes.

USM Tissue Bank also conducts tissue banking training to medical doctors, dentists, scientists, medical assistants, nurses and medical technologists. Since 1997, the bank had trained personnel in the related field that came from public and private sectors throughout Malaysia and from other countries.

The bank assists the National Transplant Registry (NTR) to collect information on human tissue transplantation. The information allows the Ministry of Health to estimate the magnitude of human tissue transplant activity in the country.
